Lieutenant Nicola Williams

Nicola Williams is a Police Lieutenant with the City of Hollywood Police Department and a dedicated law enforcement professional with 24 years of service. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Florida International University in 1997 and a Master of Science in Management from St. Thomas University in 2000.

Lieutenant Williams began her career with the Hollywood Police Department in June 2002 as a Road Patrol Officer. Throughout her career, she has served in numerous specialized assignments, including the Crime Suppression Unit and Vice Intelligence Unit as a Detective. During her tenure in Vice Intelligence, she served as a Task Force Officer with the Department of Homeland Security Investigations International Money Laundering Unit and the Broward Sheriff’s Office Money Laundering Task Force. She later served in the Youth Services Unit as a School Resource Officer.

In 2015, Lieutenant Williams was promoted to Sergeant, serving in Patrol before assuming assignments in Internal Affairs and the Youth Services Unit. As Supervisor of the Youth Services Unit, she coordinated numerous community outreach initiatives designed to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve. Her commitment to youth and community engagement also led to her service on the Hollywood Police Athletic League (PAL) Executive Board from 2018 to 2021, and she continues to serve as a PAL Board member.

Promoted to Lieutenant in 2021, Lieutenant Williams has continued to expand her leadership experience through assignments in Patrol, the Canine Unit, and Special Operations. While assigned to Special Operations, she provided oversight of the Beach Unit, Marine Unit, and Dive Team. She currently serves in the West District Neighborhood Team Leader Unit, where she continues to foster meaningful partnerships between law enforcement, residents, businesses, and community stakeholders.

Throughout her distinguished career, Lieutenant Williams has received numerous Letters of Appreciation and Supervisory Commendations recognizing her professionalism and service. Her honors include Detective of the Month while assigned to the Broward Sheriff’s Office Money Laundering Task Force, Hollywood Police Department Officer of the Month, the Lifesaving Award, and the Supervisor of the Year Award in 2019.

Beyond her professional responsibilities, Lieutenant Williams maintains a strong commitment to community service and professional leadership. She currently serves as Treasurer of the Florida Association of Women Law Enforcement Professionals (FAWLEP) and as the 2026–2028 Health Equity Chair for the Broward County Section of the National Council of Negro Women, Inc. She also serves as Volunteer Chair for the 2026 Feeding South Florida Thanksgiving Community Feast and volunteers as a Wish Granter with Make-A-Wish Southern Florida.

Lieutenant Williams is also a member of the National Association of Women Law Enforcement Executives (NAWLEE) and the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE). Her service with NOBLE includes serving as Community Service Chair from 2013 to 2020, and she was recognized as the organization’s South Florida Chapter Broward Sector Member of the Year in 2018.

Lieutenant Williams’ career reflects a longstanding commitment to leadership, mentorship, community engagement, and public service. Through her involvement with FAWLEP, she is dedicated to supporting the professional growth and advancement of women in law enforcement, fostering meaningful connections among women at every stage of their careers, and helping develop the next generation of women leaders in the profession. She remains committed to leading with integrity, serving with purpose, and using her experience to make a positive and lasting impact within law enforcement and the communities she serves.
