Captain Nelly Joseph

Captain Nelly Joseph is a dedicated Law Enforcement Professional with over 20 years of public service experience. She began her career in 2005 as a Probation Officer with the Florida Department of Corrections, and in 2008, transitioned into law enforcement as a Police Officer.

Captain Joseph holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology from Florida Memorial University, graduating in 2002. She furthered her education at American International University, earning a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in 2010.

In 2012, she joined the Miami Gardens Police Department (MGPD), where she has served in several key roles, including:
• Community Enrichment Team
• Public Information Officer
• Special Victims Unit (Sex Crimes Detective)
• Professional Compliance Section.

Her commitment to excellence and leadership earned her a promotion to Sergeant in 2021, and most recently, to Captain on January 4, 2025.

Captain Joseph has led several impactful initiatives in the Miami Gardens community, such as:
• Faith & Blue Initiative
• Save Our Streets Initiative
• Stop the Violence Stop the Pain
• Citizen Police Academy

She also oversees the MGPD Chaplain Program, serving as a vital bridge between law enforcement and the community.

Captain Joseph’s service and advocacy have been recognized with several honors, including:
• Proclamation for Outstanding Community Service from North Miami Beach Vice Mayor Villard (2021)
• National NOBLE Civil Rights Excellence in Investigations Award (2021)
• Lloyd Sealy Award (2021)

Nelly Joseph serves as the Senior Pastor of Transforming and Renewing Hearts Ministry and is the Chief Executive Officer of Kingdom Global Advancement, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to advancing individuals and communities through faith, empowerment, leadership, and service. She is also a prolific author of more than 60 books and workbooks centered on spiritual growth, identity, healing, personal development, leadership, and transformation.
